We are anticipating a busy spring during Louisiana?s 2008 Regular Legislative Session, with a number of key bills and issues that affect the state's real estate industry. In addition to monitoring industry legislation, LR is presenting three bills for consideration by lawmakers:

HB 192 by Representative Jeff Arnold would increase the educational and professional requirements for real estate salespersons and brokers. View PDF of current bill text

HB 156 by Representative Jeff Arnold would create on an as needed basis a peer review mentoring committee under the Louisiana Real Estate Appraisal Board. View PDF of current bill text

HB 212 by Representative Arnold would allow real estate licensees to contract with local governments for a fee to sell local governmental properties. View PDF of current bill text

Louisiana REALTORS will also be working closely with the Coalition to Insure Louisiana to insure that legislative policy strives to attract more insurance companies to our state in order to write more affordable and available property insurance.
